2020 Holiday Gift Drive
As with everything in 2020, the holidays looked a bit different here at SFCASA. While we were unable to host our annual youth holiday party, we doubled down our efforts to provide holiday cheer in other ways!
We launched an online gift drive, which raised over $32,000 thanks to our generous community of elves and supporters - an all-time gift drive record! Organizational gift drive partners CRV, Slalom, DLA Piper, Neuberger Berman, Maverick Capital, St. Finn Barr Church, St. Finn Barr School, and the Theta Alumnae, along with individual drive partners Lisa Spinali and Susan Crown, fulfilled hundreds of gift requests and stocking stuffers. With the help of SFCASA’s Board of Directors, they also provided over $10,000 in Safeway and HoneyBaked Ham gift cards so that our youth and families could enjoy delicious holiday meals.
We had some spectacular gifts this year, including bicycles, roller skates, and hoverboards so kids can get moving. Some of our older youth received Instapots and cooking sets, and there were some tried-and-true favorites like giant teddy bears and Legos. All youth received gift cards in lieu of our ultra-popular bingo game at the holiday party, where youth love winning prize gift cards for themselves!
Cake4Kids provided individually wrapped holiday treats, and Project Glimmer once again donated generously to the stocking stuffers. Stockings also included handmade necklaces by Marsella Johnson, along with her friends and family, and Tandem, Partners in Early Learning donated both English-language and Spanish-language books.
Overall the gift drive provided holiday gifts to more than 200 of San Francisco’s foster youth, and we are so grateful for the hard work of our incredible community! While we don’t have many photos to share, we snapped a few of our holiday workshop looking particularly festive and packed with gifts for our youth - enjoy! Happy holidays from SFCASA!
